GR Parent Preview

Showcasing What Has Been Taught

The annual Parent Preview event is held in August at the end of the band's final summer rehearsals to mark the start of the new school year.

The Parent Preview starts with a "tailgating" celebration in the parking lot.  While the students rehearse in the stadium, the parents congregate to enjoy snacks.  The Golden Regiment Team Store sets up a large display of merchandise, with a couple of new items announced each year.  Fans of the Golden Regiment that have pre-ordered their senior shirts, fan tour shirts, or yard signs can pick them up at this time.  The fan tour shirt design is held secret to parents so this is their first look at the show title and theme.

As a fundraiser, a raffle event is also held.  Typical prizes for the raffle include free tickets to one of the Bands of America Super Regional competitions and a two night hotel stay at one of the competitions provided by Meyer Music.

At around 8:30 pm, the gates to the stadium open and parent's and family members get their first look at the hard work the students have been putting in all season.  The staff leads the students through some basic rehearsal techniques to showcase the work that they've been doing all summer.  The Golden Regiment performs a few seconds of the show to give parents their first glimpse into the theme, design, and sound of the show.

The Parent Preview is an amazing celebration of the student's hard work.  It's an evening of joy, laughter, and applause as the students kick off their marching season.
